Writing Skills
Private 50-minute Session in Basic Grammar.....$36.00 US
Projects Requiring Editing (e.g. Academic, Business Reports, etc.)........Contact us for pricing.
- Newcastle Language Systems offers instruction in writing skills at a variety of levels.
- During regular 50-minute sessions, the educator will cover such topics as noun-verb agreement and the correct use of restrictive and non-restrictive clauses.
- For learners requiring help with a specific writing project, price is determined by complexity. Such projects include academic works, business reports, and presentations. For these projects, the educator will only provide guidance on the correct use of the target language. The learner should therefore be aware that unless the educator is specifically contracted as a mentor, the educator cannot provide any help in regard to the non-linguistic content of the project (e.g. theory, best business practices, etc.)
- All instruction takes place during the session, but homework assignments may occasionally be given at the discretion of the instructor.
- Group Class Available
What is the Mentor Service?
Newcastle Language Systems is honored to have educators who are not only language instructors but who also have years of experience in the business world. This allows our learners to take advantage of our special mentoring service. For an additional $9.00 fee, the instructor will then provide both language instruction and business guidance in the learner's commercial sector. For example, a Conversational English learner in the tech sector may wish to improve their presentation skills for an upcoming meeting, and so they may add the mentoring service. During the lesson, the educator will then be able to coach the learner on such non-linguistic skills as organization, body language, and delivery. Similarly, a learner in a management position may request mentoring service from an educator with a managerial background in order to learn how to build rapport with their staff.
By offering this service at an additional fee, it allows us to keep our rates low for learners who simply want to learn the language while also allowing interested learners to request the service only during certain sessions. For more information on our mentoring service, please write us here.
Group Classes
To lower the cost of lessons, we offer learners the ability to share a session with up to two friends or colleagues at the standard private lesson rate. However, for Business Accounts, we can accommodate up to eight students per lesson, though the price for these lessons is based on the number of students. To learn more about group lessons and how to schedule them, please contact us here.
Cancellation and Connection Policy
- Students may cancel or reschedule their lessons up to 24 hours in advance of the scheduled lesson at no additional charge.
- We regret to inform students that lessons they cancel or reschedule less than 24 hours in advance of the scheduled lesson will not be eligible for a refund.
- Newcastle Language Systems deems that the failure of a student to attend the scheduled session is equivalent to a late cancellation, and therefore, the student will not have any right to a rescheduling of or refund for the scheduled lesson.
- In the event that an educator cancels or misses a scheduled lesson, the student will have the right to reschedule or receive a refund for the scheduled lesson. No other compensation will be offered by Newcastle Language Systems.
- Regarding connections, after extensive testing Newcastle Language Systems has determined that Zoom Video Conferencing provides the fastest and most stable connections for our sessions. Before scheduling their first lesson, students must check if Zoom is available in their country, and if so, download, install, and test the appropriate Zoom client. Students can learn more at https://zoom.us/. While it is possible to connect with our educators by using the Zoom browser client, Newcastle Language Systems advises against this method, and we cannot provide refunds for any sessions with poor connection due to its utilization.
- Students should be advised that it is their responsibility, before scheduling lessons, to determine if their internet connection is stable enough and fast enough to for two-way video conferencing. Newcastle Language Systems strongly recommends that students connecting to a session use a desktop/laptop with a high-speed connection and that all background services are turned off. Due to the unstable connections of cellular/mobile smartphones and devices, students who use such devices to connect to the session will not have any right to refund if they find the connection unstable. Additionally, if within the first ten minutes of the session, either the educator or the student feels that the connection is not stable enough to continue the session effectively, a request may be made to connect through an alternate channel. This channel may be Skype, Google Hangouts, or some other convenient application. If the educator asserts that his or her internet connections is stable, and that student-side connection issues are preventing successful stable connection, the student will not have the right to refund.
- All students must accept the terms and conditions to this cancellation policy at the time of payment.
